i don't want a real job

Postby Subzero_Wins » Wed Jan 02, 2008 2:58 am

So, I've been pretty absent around here for quite awhile, with a random splattering of posts but I've recently decided to start playing massive amounts of hands again...this is mostly being due to graduating from college last month with a BS in chemistry and not wanting to get a job. I really haven't played much NL in my poker career as I played quite a bit of limit and tournies with DoctorHandles when we first started and then kind of stopped playing when the government banned online poker. He has gotten pretty damn good in the time I haven't been playing and has been helping me along recently.

I'm playing short handed NL 25 at stars and am starting to get in the groove though I've been running absolutely horribly. I played my first big day of hands a few days ago and got in 2500 6-tabling and was down 4 stacks in all-in equity. Played another 2100 tonight and was down another 4 stacks in all-in equity...pretty much just all around running like ass. I've actually been doing suprisingly well at not getting pissed off during my sessions and just rollin' with it...i'm definitely better at it than the doctor who does not take his beats very well.

Anyways figured i'd post a couple JJ hands from my sessions and see what you guys think about them....

still running absolutely horrible, though i'm sure there is plenty of bad play missed in there from having so little experience at NL, the doctor is helping me but i just cant seem to win anything recently...currently on a an 18 buy in downswing...ya its pretty bad at the moment, i'm definitely not playing THAT bad...11 of those buy ins are pure all in luck, and i've had plenty of coolers as well

it sucks but i've managed to play through it pretty well without really getting pissed off

Played 2400 hands today and hopefully it was the beginning of a turnaround...won $166 and was down $8 in all-in luck which was pretty awesome...ran pretty good hitting stuff and just got paid off by people being really really bad

QQ flops Q72 and gets a stack off of a J2 UTG limper, KK wins a stack on a 7 high flop against 97, an AK not 3 betting preflop in position and calling my CB with A high only to turn an A against my set...it was good stuff

wasn't sure about this hand but i like the way i played, i'm still trying to figure out what people are donking flops and turns with...seems to happen all the time

played my second 1000 hand session and won another $210 on top of my $166 in my earlier session...today was an awesome day, i ran good and pretty much did not lose an all in hence i was up $130 in all in equity...hopefully this keeps up for awhile, i feel i deserve it for playing through that horrible downswing without really getting pissed off...this is definitely a lot more fun

i'm also up $1200 in 33000 hands at NL $25 so i think i may take a 10 buy-in stab at NL $50 tomorrow playing with DrHandles

a couple of my favorite hands of the day:
