Kinda long..but please read.

Ok, there will be no Bull Shit in this journal. Whether I succeed or fail, I want to keep acurate records of my experience playing poker on line.

Background:
I am 38 and work for a major news station in Florida currently. However, my wife and I are going to move back to Memphis Tn and go back to school. There is too much stress in my job and I am tired of dealing with murders, rapists and child molester every day. Bascially, the news is a load of crap. There is a moto for all TV station which is kinda of sick..."If it bleeds, It leads the show". I have a fascination with computers(I am a total novice) but I am thinking about going into Management Information Tech. Oh, my wife loves to play as well.

Poker History:
I have been playing Holdem for about 6 years, mostly live games at casinos or poker rooms. At best, I am a 50/50 player. I have been playing on-line poker for about a year and to be honest ....I suck. I have lost about 120.00 bucks and I know I am a fish.

Currenty, I play at PS because I live in the US. I have 20 bucks in my account but a deposit of 100 bucks will clear next week. I plan on playing the .05/.10 limit ring games and the 1.20 SNGs to get comfortable.

I have Poker Tracker and Poker Ace Hud and I really want to learn how to use them, but I have not found a comprehensive instruction guide anywhere that really tells you what the programs can do and how to execute it.

I have asked alot of questions about PT and PAH on the PT forum of this site and I hope some of you will take the time to answer. If you do, Please do in detail because I am a little slow(lol) when it comes to computers. I would love to know how to post hands, show stats from my PT and find out how to get a graph and how to post it. But I will need step by step. I really, really want to know.

I have read this forum for about a year and really value your information and input.

Thanks for reading....

So, until the deposit goes through...here is my BR:

Hi!

Nice to see another player starting a journal at NL10.

I hope you will do well and that you'll find what you're looking for at BTP.

To answer some of you questions... In order to learn some "how to" things, I suggest you read the Stickies in the forums that interest you. Like PokerTracker and Tools forum and NL holdem Cash game forum. It's a good starting point and the stickies have useful information in them. Btw. stickies are always the first couple of posts in the forum that have a word Sticky next to the thread name (I don't know how far goes your computer/forum/etc knowledge so excuse me if you already know this stuff).

I also suggest you read the posts in the Bankroll forum as well as this is a great starting point for online poker player. Soon enough (if not already) you will understand that Bankroll is everything.

Anyway, as said, nice to see a new joural and I wish you a memorable and successful poker journey!

10/2/07

I am a sadist. I had a 16 hour session yesterday  . At first I played the 6-max LHE .05/.10. After about 3 hours I made a mighty profit of 56c. I have noticed that alot of people play every hand at this level and will chase everything to the river. I decided to take a shower and let my wife play my hands. This was a mistake  . She had never played a 6-max table before and the action kind of shook her up. By the time I finished showering, she had lost all but 28c.

Most of that time was spent figuring out what Poker Tracker and PAH can do. I LOVE the Game Time feature.

She really wanted to learn as well, so I was explaining to her about posistion poker and how not to chase to the river(with my limited knowledge). Also, I put her on a .05/.10 10-max LHE table and sat beside her, not playing the hands for her but giving her my thoughts and answering questions.

The table had a guy(i would love to name him but i wont out of kindness). After 250 hands his VP was 91.2% . This guy was a total donk and played every two cards dealt to him(7,2..8,4...9,2 etc). If this wasnt crazy enough, he took it to the river, no matter how many bets/raises were before him. He must have been living right because this guy survived for hours. I had some nice hands where he chased me down to the river to catch an inside straight. This actually happened about 4 times. There was not one hand that I lost to him where he was ahead at the "Turn". However, after about 3 hours, the tables turned and I finally busted him. The table was friendly and when he left we all started laughing about how bad of a player he was and how lucky he was able to survive for that long.

By this time we were up by $4.25 and we were very happy. This fluxuated very little for the next 3 1/2 hours. However, the cards ran cold and after a couple of tough beats....Boat loosing to a 4 of a kind on river......Few peeps catching straights on the river to beat my 2 pair, we found ourself back down to 1.25. Then, I donked off the rest of the 1.25...I was exhausted.

I did notice that my AA, KK, QQ pre-flop hardly ever held. I played them aggressive but at .05/.10 it is difficult to get people to fold.

All in all, it was alot of fun.

BR(until 10/17/07 when my deposit clears)

Question:
When you have a hand that you just played and want to save it to post for later....what do you do? Keep in mind that I have Poker Tracker.
